Yesterday while working away in our office at the corner of Pender and Carrall in the heart of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, the smell of sausage and pancakes wafted into our space.  The grand opening party for the newly renovated social housing project, The Pennsylvania Hotel at Hastings & Carrall was a welcome site to us, and anyone concerned for Vancouver’s homeless.  Food and hot coffee was offered for those who could brave the rain, and a  band and choir provided inspirational tunes.  We hope what we’re seeing is just the start of Vancouver tackling this important issue.
