Joseph moved to Vancouver after spending four years working as a BREEAM and sustainability consultant in London, UK. Recollective and the green building industry in Vancouver offered him the chance to have a greater impact on climate change and work with passionate consultants and clients.

His previous work in London involved a large variety of project types and was mostly focussed at the pre-application stage, allowing sustainability to be imbedded into design from the outset. This role also involved the development of a sustainable development scorecard – a unique tool to enable clients to pick and choose sites with an inherently sustainable location or character.

Joseph received his masters degree in environmental science from the University of Nottingham, UK, with a focus on the impacts of lead pollution on soil and how wetland carbon storage is responding to climate change. After graduating, Joseph chose to work in green building consulting because it offers the opportunity to significantly reduce global greenhouse gas emissions and create socially integrative communities.

When not in the office, Joseph tries to go mountain biking and hiking as much as possible and he spent a year backpacking around the world – eventually leading him to beautiful British Columbia!
